Strengths: can be stored in a shirt pocket and is very light. takes great pix and can easily go to 8x10 prints.
Weakness: the biggest weakness is the time it takes to "wake up". Don't count on this camera to take quick shots.
The camera itself is pretty nifty. It is easy to carry and can go into a shirt pocket. The biggest downfall is the amount of time it takes to get ready. If you have the camera off it will take a good 6 or 7 seconds to warm up and be able to shoot. Just enough time to lose a good candid shot. If you keep the camera on it will go to sleep to save the battery but "waking it up" takes another 5 or 6...
Strengths: compact, easy to use, good quality pictures, LONG battery life, excellent macro mode.
Weakness: short notice on battry level, software is "OK", MSN picture it is better
took it Hawaii on vacation, used a 96 meg CFC, forgot the spare battery and had no problem as long as I put it on the charger overnite. Definitely a "buy again" camera.
Strengths: Excellent pictures and that is the main reason to buy a camera.
Weakness: It is slow to take the picture after you click. I assume this is the auto focus catching up.
I have had none of the battery problems I read about. I agree that the low power indicator really means you are out of battery.
Strengths: Excellent picture quality, compactflash, battery life, durability (believe it or not).
Weakness: Very sloooow. Very annoying to have to wait for power up and shot-to-shot. Should be faster, given proprietary battery. No ISO settings, no manual focus (hey, what do you expect?).
I have to agree with all the disappointment with speed of the 775, but we must have gotten lucky with ours. I dropped it out of my pants pocket onto some really rough asphalt on vacation last summer. Thought, ooh, guess I'm getting a new 4300! Big ol' ding on one of the corners of the body near the lens. Noticed the lens was not centered in the housing (may have always been that way). Powered it...
Strengths: size, pic quality, ease of operation
Weakness: slowwwww, battery weak, program failure three times, poor customer service.
Camera failed at 2 months while reviewing pics, repaired: failed 500 miles from home on trip 4 months later, repaired: failed for third time 2500 miles from home on vacation. first letter from Nikon said they would repair, second said there was lens barrel damage and would cost me $180. Lens was retracted (closed), camera was carried in padded bag and wrist strap used. WAS NOT dropped. Always...
Strengths: Nice and portable. The 775 really seemed like a cool camera at first... Would make a better paper weight than a camera.
Weakness: kinda slow, but we were OK with that. Reliability rating = less than zero
Worked great for 3 months, then gave an error message and the lens would no longer operate. We sent the camera in for repair (at our expense) only to have Nikon return the camera to the wrong address. The repaired camera worked for about 6 weeks and died. This time Nikon picked up the shipping and sent us a new 775; you'd think all was well, but OHHH NO. The same scenario was repeated with camera...
Strengths: - Ultra Compact & Light - Good Beginner Camera (everything is auto with presets)
Weakness: - Pictures in low light situations are blurry (shutter is open longer, so use tripod) - Plastic Case (cheap feel, but is strong) - Few Manual Controls
This is an excellent camera for beginners. If you want a small camera and dont care about having manual controls (ISO, apperature, shutter speed.. etc), this camera is excellent. i bought this camera for $240 on ebay (which i hear is a decently good price)
Strengths: Picture Quality, features, size and cost are excellent
Weakness: As long as you charge the battery (Once a week for us with a 128Meg Card), the battery issue should be OK. The main weakness is with Autofocus-We have missed shots since it takes 1-2 seconds to focus
This was our first digital camera and it was an excellent purchase. We have owned the Coolpix 775 for over a year and we have taken over 1000 pictures (128Meg Card). In addition, with the included software from Nikon, we are able to store/enhance them - this offers so many other opportunities. My wife no longer works on manual scrapbooks. Now, she uses the digital pictures and the software to...
Strengths: Compact, fairly easy to use, pictures are good quality
Weakness: Battery! I was shocked to see another comment on the exact same problem as I am having. The battery will not charge. I have used the camera enough to have charged it barely four or five times.
This camera is good except for the battery. I am just starting the process to see what can be done to resolve this issue. I will return the camera and go elsewhere if it is not resolved. Buyer beware of the battery issues.

Nikon Coolpix 775 2 Megapixel Compact Camera
Strengths: Great little lens and top-quality pictures w/top-notch color accuracy for a casual camera. Lightweight and easy to take on any trip. Scene modes are very handy.
Weakness: Slow start & focus, major shutter lag if not in landscape mode. Flash-off resets to flash-on if you turn the camera off in "auto" mode. Scene wheel too easy to turn accidentally.
For what is, by now, an inexpensive entry-level camera, I have been very pleased with my 770 despite its limitations and agonizingly slow boot-up. Have had it almost three years and have taken over 2,000 photos all over the world. For tourists, the best feature is its landscape scene mode, because it keeps the flash off and focus at infinity, so you get noticeably faster shots this way. If you go...
